Nicolas Winkler Photography in collaboration with Ocean Spirits, is excited to introduce the documentary film Open Season with a public community stakeholder screening in Sauteurs, Grenada.
The screening, free of cost, will be at St Patrick’s Anglican School on Wednesday, 5 June from 6–7 pm
Synopsis: Grenada’s critically endangered hawksbill sea turtles face an uncertain future as they endure one of the longest legal open hunting seasons in the world. The film Open Season tells the story of the extraordinary lives of Grenada’s sea turtles and the people dedicated to protecting them for future generations. Open Season showcases Grenada’s exquisite underwater beauty and the islands that are the last stronghold for its sea turtles. Filmed exclusively in Grenada, Open Season reveals the exceptional talent of the fishermen and boat captains of Sauteurs, and features the work of local wildlife veterinarian Dr Kenrith Carter. Open Season is narrated by Grenadian Roxanna John and produced and directed by Nicolas Winkler.
Nicolas Winkler, a marine biologist by training, is Canadian-based Grenadian freelance photographer and filmmaker specialising in ocean science and conservation themes. His work has been published in magazines, scientific publications, and television. Winkler has spent over 2 decades diving and exploring Grenada’s waters and the islands to the north of Sauteurs.
