Governor-General, Her Excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade, has appointed a new Supervisor of Elections.

Mr Arthur Pierre took the Oath of Office earlier today and was given his instrument of appointment by the Governor-General.

Mr Pierre, a qualified teacher, brings to the office a wealth of experience, having worked in the Ministries of Education and Health. He is a former Drug Control Officer and an HIV/AIDS advocate.

Mr Pierre has been a public officer for more than 30 years and is currently the Deputy Disaster Coordinator at the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA).

The newly appointed Supervisor of Elections also served as a Presiding Officer with the Parliamentary Elections Office for many years.

He officially takes up office on 1 June.
