The Rotaract Club of Grenada proudly announces the return of its highly anticipated 33rd Annual Spelling Bee, made possible by the generous support of second-year sponsor, The Communal Cooperative Credit Union.

Initiated in 1991, the Annual Spelling Bee has long been a cherished tradition in Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, showcasing the academic prowess and competitive spirit of students from across the region. After a brief hiatus during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event made a triumphant return last year with the inaugural sponsorship of The Communal Cooperative Credit Union.

This year, the competition achieved new heights with over 45 schools participating in the preliminary rounds which was held during the week of 15 April to 18 April 2024.

After the intense preliminary rounds, these are the schools commencing to the semi-finals and finals on 27 April 2024:

Preliminary Round 1:

  • Beacon Junior School
  • Corinth Government School
  • St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School (Morne Jaloux)
  • St Martin de Porres Catholic School
  • St Paul’s Government School
  • St Theresa’s Catholic School

Preliminary Round 2:

  • Bonair Government School
  • Mt Pleasant Government School
  • St Mary’s Junior School
  • Westmorland Junior School
  • Dover Government School
  • First Choice Junior School

Preliminary Round 3:

  • Holy Innocents Anglican School
  • Holy Spirit Catholic (Chantimelle RC)
  • Sacred Heart Catholic School – Tivoli
  • St Andrew’s Anglican Primary School
  • St Andrew’s Roman Catholic School
  • St Mary Catholic School
  • St Patrick’s Anglican School

The competition will culminate in the semi-finals and final rounds on Saturday, 27 April 2024, at the prestigious Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) auditorium. The Rotaract Club of Grenada invites the public to be spectators as the top spellers vie for the coveted championship title. Who will it be!

The Rotaract Club of Grenada expresses profound gratitude to The Communal Cooperative Credit Union for their continued commitment to education and community enrichment. Their unwavering support enables the club to foster academic excellence, promote literacy, and inspire the next generation of leaders in Grenada and beyond.
