Students of Carriacou and other community members have been given an opportunity to add their voices to the development of the tri-island state, through their participation in the National Private Sector Investment Forum.
The 2-day forum at the Cassada Bay Resort opened on Thursday, World Down Syndrome Day, and forms part of this year’s commemoration of International Women’s Day.
The forum is organised by Grenada’s Ministry of Social Development in collaboration with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation, UN Women Build Back Equal Project and CUSO Blueprint Project.
Senior Programme Officer Jicinta Alexis, in remarks at the opening ceremony, cautioned that one should not discount anyone because of their sex, level of knowledge and potential.
Part of the forum’s objectives is to develop a concept note for a project, with the target population being women, youth and persons living with disabilities.
The project’s sector areas of focus will include agriculture, fisheries, climate change and tourism.
