Minister responsible for Youth, Sports, and Culture Hon. Ron Redhead has announced the appointment of Cecil Noel as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Spicemas Corporation (SMC).

Noel’s appointment takes effect Friday, 10 March 2023. He replaces former CEO Kelvin Jacob, who opted out of a contract renewal in January.

“I have accepted the offer to become the new Chief Executive Officer of the SMC, and I look forward to working with Government and stakeholders involved in Spicemas, to ensure the festival is one of very high standards,” said Noel.

Minister Redhead, in congratulating the new CEO, said, “I look forward to working with our team of directors to bring new ideas forward, continue to provide a wonderful Carnival experience for locals and visitors, and most importantly, look to bring Spicemas into a new era.”

Spicemas will be officially launched on Friday, 28 April 2023, at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium.
