The 27th Meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is ongoing at Sharm El Sheik, Egypt from 6-18 November 2022.

Hon. Kerryne James is attending the Ministerial Sessions from 14-18 November 2022. The minister delivered a national statement on 15 November 2022 and made a strong call for climate actions, the need to channel finance in general to support concrete development proposals and financing for loss and damage. The Minister also expressed concerns about the limited implementation of the Glasgow Climate Pact.

COP 27 focuses on implementation and key topics are Climate finance and Accessing Climate Finance. This conference is building on the success of previous sessions and aims at scaling up ambitions to urgently address the global challenge of climate change.

The Minister is leading a delegation from Grenada comprising of Terah Antoine, Energy Officer; Rae Thomas, Crown Counsel; Dr Spencer Thomas and Leon Charles, Climate Negotiators; Jovana Hoschtialek, Youth Representative and Jerry Enoe, Board Member of Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority (GSWMA).

Minister James will participate in bilateral meetings with various government officials and will return to Grenada on 19 November 2022.

Again on tax payers. What an expensive holiday, that benefits Grenada nothing. These folks don’t know their hand from their foot. Why spend our money to send these young folks on a sight seeing expedition. What a shame.
