It is sad that all the economic growth is happening in the city of St. George. The bus terminus in St. Georges is bustling with life because most of the country people have moved to town in search of work.
As you drive through the countryside, everything is at a standstill. After school commences, all you see is empty buses, empty stores with no one buying anything, all is quiet.
We have allocated millions to Tourism over the years and little improvement is seen. Many streets are still unnamed and I still get lost when I travel through Woodlands and other areas in Town..For many years nothing has changed.
There is a shortage of trained Agricultural workers. Training is targeted at the educated. There has not been any training for the school dropouts who get their daily bread in the Agricultural Sector. The farmers spend alot and get poor quality or little work. Farmers who are fed-up have left their fields abandoned only to be taxed by Government. We cannot go on in this manner.
We need large scale Agro-Processing facilities in the Rural areas. Too many produce is going to waste, while the Ministry of Agriculture continues to focus on Planting. Training hundreds of youths in Agroprocessing has not and will not solve the problem of over-production. Agro-processing has to be done in facilities that meet high standards of sanitation.
Government continues to borrow millions of dollars and the people have no say in where that money will be spent.
Well said Jennifer! I couldn’t have put it any better.
