GHTA Expresses Concern Over the 2017 Budget

While the GHTA fully understands the financial constraints Government is under, it is very concerned that the National Budget 2017, as unveiled by the Hon. Prime Minister and Minister for Finance last Friday, sees a decrease in funding allocated to Tourism when compared to 2016.

It is a well-known fact that Tourism and Agriculture bring in the vast majority of foreign exchange earnings to Grenada. In order to realise an increase in foreign exchange, we must be in a position to attract more visitors to our shores. To do this, adequate funds must be allocated to the Grenada Tourism Authority for marketing.

Nevertheless, the GHTA is committed to continuing to work with Government and the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) to continue to market Grenada as a desired destination, and to lift the standard of service offered to locals and visitors alike.
