A sixty-five (65) year old retiree of Mt. Pleasant Carriacou was arrested and charged today (10 October 2013) by officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, Carriacou Police Station, after thirty-two pounds of Cannabis was found in his possession.

The discovery was concealed in wrappings of plastic bag and adhesive tape and was found in a fridge at the accused’s house. The drugs carry and estimated street value of seventy-two thousand five hundred and seventy-six dollars ($72,576.00).

Ray Simon, who was charged for possession of a controlled drug and possession with intent to supply to another, was granted bail in the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) with two sureties, to appear at the Carriacou Magistrates Court on 21 October 2013.

During another operation conducted on 9 October 2013, by officers attached to the Drug Squad Unit and Coast Guard of the Royal Grenada Police Force on Isle De Rhodes, seventy-three Cannabis trees ranging from four feet to twelve feet in height were uprooted.

No one has yet been arrested and charged.

Investigation is continuing.
