Police has confirmed that a 31 year old Security Guard is presently detained to assist them with their investigations into the posting of pornographic photos on Facebook of a female teenager.
On Tuesday night many Grenadians facebook accounts were tagged with the Grenadian teenage student engaging in sexual acts. The matter was reported to Facebook as abuse and it was eventually removed. However, by Wednesday morning there was a public outrage on talkshows with callers demanding that the law enforcement take appropriate action.
“The recent incident which sparked outrage among many social circles is indeed of serious concern to the Police and as such, a clarion call is made for perpetrators of young girls to dissuade from such practice,” the police said in a statement issued on Thursday.
In addition, the Police said it will spare no efforts in bringing perpetrators to justice and call on parents to be more vigilant in the supervision of their young daughters.
The alleged offender is likely to be charged with several counts of “sexual intercourse with a female between the age of 13 and 16 years”. If found guilty; he can face a maximum penalty of seven (7) years in prison on each count.
