Attorney at Law, A. Anande Trotman-Joseph, a law Partner of the law firm of Joseph & Joseph at Lucas Street, St George’s, Grenada, recently graduated with a Masters of Law Degree (LLM) from the University of London, on 19 March 2013. She specialised in Law and Development.
Trotman-Joseph is an accomplished attorney at law, whose career spans over twenty-five years, and is admitted to practise by the Bars of Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Grenada and the British Virgin Islands.
She is a former Solicitor-General of Grenada, a Founding Partner of the law Firm of Chapman & Trotman, Georgetown, Guyana, and is the Owner of the Consultancy in Law, Governance & Rights. Her legal practice focuses on civil and commercial law. She is also well known as a regional socio-legal advocate on the rule of law, constitutional reform, non discrimination and equal opportunities for women and the protection of children.
Trotman-Joseph said that she was inspired to pursue post graduate legal studies, so as to stay on the cutting edge of current socio-legal issues. “Given that I am also a public legal educator and advocate, who understands the correlation between law and the society, I need to stay on the cutting edge of issues,” said the Deputy Chair for Grenada Integrity Commission.
She expects that her specialisation will enable her to ably contribute to the regional movement for enlightened transformational leadership required for sustainable national development, and the strengthening of the Caricom region.
A. Anande Trotman-Joseph is currently a Board Member of the Caribbean Institute of Women in Leadership, (CIWiL), Advisor to the United Nations UNWomen Caribbean Civil Society Advisory Group, and is the Deputy Chairperson of the Grenada Integrity Commission.
