A high-level delegation from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection of Germany recently visited Carriacou to discuss the feasibility of more climate resilience projects, with a focus on water development.
The delegation, led by German national Astrid Regier, Technical Advisor of the Climate Resilient Water Sector in Grenada, met with Javan Williams, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, to discuss potential projects.
They were also given a tour of the site for the proposed construction of a ministerial complex. Other areas visited included Bishop’s College, where plans are being looked at for the construction of a water catchment, Top Hill water catchment, and the solar field at Limlair.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Physical Development, Public Utilities and Civil Aviation, Michael Stephen, was also part of the visiting team, as was Climate Change Focal Point for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Davon Baker.
Brian Bonaparte, Project Manager of the G-CREWS project, said the mission was also designed to examine previously funded projects and the possibility of developing new ones.
