The trending decline in New Cases, Hospitalizations, Deaths and Positivity Rate is good news indeed. Our front-line health workers, MoH and volunteers deserve our thanks and gratitude. However, much if this improvement is probably attributable to the shutdowns and other hardships that have been enduring. As we try to return to normal and lift restrictions while our vaccine rate remains stubbornly low, we face the severe risk that Covid will start to spread again. The only way to avoid this is to increase the vaccination rate. We have endured great hardship and tragedy. The only way to make sense of this senseless suffering is to learn from it. Please, please, please–get vaccinated as soon as you can. Urge everyone you know to do the same.
I completely agree. Let us hope the reduction in cases does not lead to complacency & slackness particularly with regards to mask wearing, social distancing or hygiene otherwise cases will soon start to climb again. Just look at other countries where cases have dropped, controls loosened, then cases start rising.
The only way to get anywhere near back to normality is through enough people getting vaccinated (75%/80%) to achieve herd immunity.
