Republic Bank is pleased to launch National Learn to Swim Week, 2021. This year’s event will be staged from 6-10 April 2021.

The Republic Bank National Learn to Swim Week has become a staple on the events calendar, and is much looked forward to by young persons during the Easter break. For the past 6 years, the Bank has given steady support to the Grenada Youth Adventurers (GYA), the organisers of the event, by providing safety equipment such as noodles and kickboards, refreshment, t-shirts and stipends for the volunteer coaches and lifeguards.

National Learn to Swim Week offers the opportunity to persons wanting to learn basic swimming techniques, at no cost to them. Fifteen beaches and pools around Grenada are identified for this purpose, giving everyone desirous of learning, the chance to do so.  These are:

  1. Annadale
  2. Bathway Beach
  3. Carriacou (Lumbadive)
  4. Good Hope Pool
  5. Gouyave (Lance beach)
  6. Grand Anse (Camerhogne Park)
  7. Grand Anse (RC Church)
  8. Grand Anse (Umbrellas)
  9. Grand Mal (Go Cool steps)
  10. Grenada Marine, St David
  11. La Sagesse Nature Centre
  12. Petite Martinique
  13. Sauteurs Breakwater
  14. Soubise
  15. True Blue Bay Resort Pool

From inception, the programme has received widespread support from the public, by way of volunteers as well as participation from both adults and juniors alike. Over 4,000 persons have benefitted from the lessons provided over the 6-year period.

The Republic Bank National Learn to Swim Week forms part of a broader programme by the GYA to “Get Grenada Swimming”. It is open to the general public and anyone can register. To sign up, or for more information, please visit https://www.getgrenadaswimming.com or, contact Deb Eastwood at 404-5237.
