The Pure Grenada Music Festival (PGMF) conducted a Festival Briefing geared toward the media, sponsors and donors on Thursday, 2 March, at Venus Restaurant & Bar, Grand Anse. The briefing served to update all on the progress of the music festival thus far and to encourage interested entities to join the platform of bringing quality music and entertainment to the Grenadian public.

The first update shared by the PGMF was the re-organization of the venue of all 3 nights of the festival at Port Louis Lawn. Dieter Burkhalter, Chair of the Steering Committee of the PGMF explained the renovations made to this year’s venue: “This year we will have 2 stages, the main stage and the village stage. When one band is finished playing on the main stage, another band will play on the village stage, this way, there will be a continuous flow, no breaks.” The renovations made to this year’s festival village serves to keep patrons engaged throughout the duration of the evenings; to capitalise on everything the festival has to offer for the weekend.

The PGMF endeavours to not only promote the arts and local musicians but also Grenada as a tourist and musical destination; encouraging visitors and foreign-based citizens to visit the island for the festival. The PGMF continues to be supported and endorsed by the Government of Grenada and the Grenada Tourism Authority. Senator, the Hon Brenda Hood, Minister of Culture and Heritage and Mrs Patricia Maher, CEO of the GTA both spoke eloquently of their support for the mission and goals of the festival and encouraged others to get on board in order to develop the potential of the Pure Grenada Music Festival.

In keeping with the technological advancements of today; the PGMF endeavours to move one step further in the holistic development of the festival by creating a Pure Grenada Music Festival app for smartphones and other mobile devices. “We want to give you all the information about the music festival right at your fingertips,” said Arlene Friday, Festival Coordinator, as she walked the attending audience through a short tutorial of the app produced by Pixel Perfect Apps, based in Grenada. The app is available on Google Play and Apple App Store and is free to download.

Each night of the festival was introduced by the presenting sponsor for the respective night. The introductions were followed by video presentations of the local and international performing artistes, including endorsement videos from Tarrus Riley, Queen Ifrica and Third World.

For Friday, 5 May, Damon Dubois, Marketing Manager of Westerhall Rums introduced the line-up for that evening which includes Sabrina Francis, Sensation Band, Queen Ifrica and Third World.

For Saturday, 6 May, Chrislyn Lashington, Marketing and Communications Executive for FLOW introduced the line-up for that evening which includes, Soul Deep, Ahkeem, Lion Paw & D-Unit Band, Cody ChestnuTT and Tarrus Riley.

For Sunday, 7 May, Samica Roberts, Marketing Officer for Grenada Cooperative Bank Ltd Introduced the line-up for that evening which includes: Loxton Mitchell, Quiet Fire, Pan Wizards, Ajamu and the Grenadian Gospel Choral and Mr Killa and his Fusionistic Evolution.

The evening’s proceedings culminated with the soothing performance by local artiste, Loxton Mitchell, whose smooth vocal not only entertained all those in attendance, but also enticed them with a sample of the tremendous talents hidden within this gem of an island and of what phenomenal performances will take place on the evenings of the Pure Grenada Music Festival.

Be a part of a night the second annual Pure Grenada Music Festival at the Port Louis Lawn from on Friday, 5 May to Sunday, 7 May featuring Third World, Queen Ifrica, Cody ChestnuTT, Tarrus Riley, Ajamu and the Grenadian Gospel Choral and Mr Killa and his Fusionistic Evolution.
