School Uniform Program for Sister-Isles Students

The Government of Grenada, under its Support for Education, Empowerment and Development (SEED) Program, continues to extend its support to the Sister-Isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique under the School Uniform Programme.

The SEED Program, which main focus is to assist vulnerable families in the state of Grenada under its 2016 School Uniform Program, will assist 358 students on the sister-isles.

An increase of $50 was also added to the regular amount of $50 and $100 vouchers by the Government of Grenada, to fuel more support towards education.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Legal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Elvin Nimrod, in addressing the recipients last Saturday, emphasized on his purpose of travel in the effort of bringing back great benefits to the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Recipients

Minister Nimrod noted that the Government of Grenada is very particular when it comes to education, hence the reason why it is seen as compulsorily to undertake such a programme. He also added that although many will question the reason as to why people seek assistance like these from the Government, they will only understand what it feels like until they’re in a needy situation themselves.

Parliamentary Secretary of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Sen. Norland Cox, in describing the nature of the program in more detail, encouraged the recipients to ensure that it bears ripe fruits, not only for their lives, but also the country on a whole. He further pledged his commitments to stand in support with the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique in ensuring that the people of the sister-isles continue to receive great benefits.

A total of $1 million was budgeted for the 2016 School Uniform Program to benefit 4,000 students in the state of Grenada.
