The Market Access and Rural Enterprise Development Programme (MAREP) conducted official Road Opening Ceremonies on Thursday September 17th, 2015, for two Farm Access Roads in St Mark and St John.
The Resource By-Road in St. Mark and the Boplan Farm Road in Maran, St John, were constructed to facilitate improved access to lands for agricultural purposes. The total cost for the construction of the roads was EC$200,000.
The ceremony included feature address by Prime Minister, Dr the Right Hon. Keith Mitchell. Remarks were also delivered by parliamentary Representatives of St Mark – Dr Clarice Modeste-Curwen, and St John – Hon. Alvin Dabreo, Acting CTO at the Ministry of Works, and MAREP’s Programme Manager.
Invited guests at the ceremony included key stakeholders such as Ministry of Works, Ministry of Agriculture among other Government Officials, members of MAREP’s Steering Committee, local farmers and other residents of St Mark and St John.
MAREP is therefore proud to have conducted another official road opening ceremony, as part of the programme’s commitment to assist farmers with farm access roads in targeted communities.
