75 licensed vendors of the Grand Anse beach zone began soft skills training on Monday, 22 June 2015. The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has partnered with the Grenada National Training Agency (NTA) to deliver a 6-week training that aims to better equip the vendors for the work environment.

“The Grand Anse Spice and Craft market and beach zone is our most populated visitor area, offering food, drink, massage, hair braiding, beach-chair rentals and retail services. We have been listening to our partners who requested this training, which will elevate the quality of service of our tourism sector,” said Ms Allison Hall, Quality Assurance Manager at the GTA.

The GTA and the GNTA conducted a needs assessment with the vendors in March 2015, which indicated their desired areas of training that includes communication skills, work ethics, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence. This training is a prerequisite to the NTA’s programmes to attain the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ).

“We are enthusiastic about this training. With the development of a new hotel on Grand Anse beach and the added business that will come, we need to ensure that we are delivering an excellent standard of service and products,” said Mrs. Sadnar Woodroffe, licensed art and craft vendor.

The vendor’s training will be administered by approved trainers contracted by the GNTA.
