Representatives from football clubs in the parish of St Patrick were the first to be visited by officials from the Grenada Football Association when they began a series of touching base sessions last Saturday.
The President and General Secretary made their stop in St. Patrick at the Mac Donald College Secondary school, where they met with representatives from the clubs in that parish. “With over 90% of the clubs present, the representatives and the Association’s management conducted a fruitful two-hour session, giving clubs an opportunity to share their concerns and make suggestions as to the way forward for the Association,” said a news release from the GFA.
Clubs used the opportunity to address several areas, from suggestions to the best way forward for women’s football, to seeking clarity on a number of internal matters. Praising the initiative and commending all the clubs who attended, GFA General Secretary Mr. Ambrose Phillip, “encouraged representatives to keep that line of communication open, always keeping in mind that the contributions made here today will lead to the further development and growth of the sport in Grenada.”
President Cheney Joseph, further endorsed the initiative, describing it as the perfect start to this series of informal meetings to be conducted throughout the island. “I enjoy participating in sessions like these as they bring to the fore many fruitful suggestions that can assist the Executive in making decisions that will result in benefits to clubs and overall the growth of the sport on the island,” Joseph said.
In the coming weeks, meetings will be held for the other clubs in the remaining five parishes throughout the island.
