Boca Secondary School middle‑distance runner Annalisa Brown earned her second regional medal on the opening day of the 2026 CARIFTA Games, delivering a podium performance on home soil. Brown secured the bronze medal in the 1,500 metres, clocking a personal best time of 4:46 in the final.
The result marks Brown’s return to the CARIFTA podium following her regional debut in 2024, when she captured bronze in the 800 metres, and underscores her continued development across multiple middle- and long-distance events.
Brown arrived at the championships in strong form after a standout showing at the 2026 InterCol Games, where she claimed the title in 5 events:
- 200 metres: 24.51
- 400 metres: 56.24 (new meet record)
- 800 metres: 2:29.20
- 1,500 metres: 5:21.48
- 3,000 metres: 11:51.14
Following her podium finish in the 1,500 metres, Brown is scheduled to return to the track in the 800 metres on Day 2 of the championships. Having previously medaled in the event at the regional level and currently holding the domestic title, she remains a leading contender in a highly competitive field.
Brown’s bronze medal represents Grenada’s 2nd CARIFTA Medal as the country hosts the 53rd edition of the CARIFTA Games.
