The Rotary Club of Grenada proudly hosted a heartwarming Movie Day experience for students of the Grenada School for Special Education on Thursday, 19 March at 10 am at Movie Palace, reaffirming its commitment to service, inclusion, and community care.

Organised as an end-of-term celebration and in observance of World Down Syndrome Day, the initiative provided students with a joyful and enriching outing beyond the classroom. The children were treated to a featured animated film in a welcoming cinema environment, creating an atmosphere of excitement, relaxation, and shared happiness.

This meaningful initiative reflects Rotary’s guiding principle of Service Above Self, as well as its dedication to fostering inclusive communities where every individual is valued and supported. By creating opportunities for students with special needs to participate fully in social experiences, the club continues to champion dignity, equality, and belonging.

The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Movie Palace, which provided complimentary access to the film along with popcorn and beverages for all attendees. Their partnership exemplifies the power of collaboration in uplifting communities and creating lasting positive impact.

World Down Syndrome Day, observed annually on 21 March, serves as a global platform to raise awareness and advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with Down Syndrome. This genetic condition, caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21, presents both challenges and unique strengths. Individuals with Down Syndrome enrich our communities with their resilience, warmth, and distinct perspectives. Initiatives such as this Movie Day not only celebrate their abilities but also promote understanding, acceptance, and respect.

The Rotary Club of Grenada remains steadfast in its ongoing partnership with the Grenada School for Special Education, committed to delivering impactful programmes that uplift, empower, and inspire. Through acts of service and compassion, the Club continues to build stronger, more inclusive communities for all.
