The Inland Revenue Division (IRD) advises the public that the updated motor vehicle licence fees, introduced under the Road Traffic (Amendment of First Schedule) Regulations, 2024 (SRO No. 6 of 2024), remain in effect.
The regulations were gazetted and took legal effect on 1 July 2024, providing for an increase of EC$50 in the annual licence fees across applicable vehicle categories.
The division acknowledges that, due to an administrative oversight in 2024, the revised fee was applied to vehicle owners prior to the official commencement date. This issue was addressed in 2025 through corrective adjustments, and the EC$50 increase was not applied to the 2025 licence fees.
Vehicle owners are therefore advised that all motor vehicle licence fees for the 2026 licensing period will be charged in accordance with the legally established fee structure that has been in effect since 1 July 2024.
The Inland Revenue Division apologises for any confusion caused and reaffirms its commitment to transparency and the proper application of all taxes, fees, and licences.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Division at 440-3556.

additional fees with zero benefit to the people. the roads are horrible, congested and the additional traffic officers deployed on the roads only slow traffic down. justify the increase in fees.
