The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) successfully convened its 62nd Annual General Meeting under the theme “Building Resilience: Sustainable Tourism, Empowered Communities,” bringing together industry stakeholders to reflect on achievements, welcome new leadership, and chart the course for the tourism sector’s continued growth.

The meeting featured keynote addresses from the Honourable Adrian Thomas, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Creative Economy and Stacey Liburd, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, who shared valuable insights on the strategic direction of Grenada’s tourism industry and collaborative opportunities for sustainable development.

“Together, we’re not just building our industry. We’re building a legacy. We’re empowering communities, and we’re creating a sustainable future,” said Arlene Friday, Chief Executive Officer of the GHTA. “As we look ahead, our focus remains on strengthening partnerships, enhancing member value, and ensuring that Grenada continues to be recognised as a premier destination in the Caribbean.”

The AGM marked an important milestone with the election of new board members who will help guide the association’s strategic initiatives. Newly appointed to the board are:

  • Hotel Directors: Kendra Hopkin Stewart and Debbie Antoine
  • Affiliate Directors: Carlene Woodroffe and Marie Fielden
  • Tourism Directors: Mandoo Seales and Aaron Sylvester

In a highlight of the day, the GHTA Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) scholarships were presented to Ciara Whiteman and Jaden Dominique by current scholarship recipient Tia Thomas, who inspired attendees with her message to the new recipients. “This award is not just support — it is belief,” said Thomas. “The association, the board, hotel managers, and tour operators are saying, ‘We see potential in you.’ What you do with that belief matters. Show up prepared. Take responsibility. Take initiative. Use every opportunity to grow — and never underestimate the impact you can have on your community, your industry, and Grenada’s future.”

The TEF continues to invest in Grenada’s future tourism professionals, supporting students pursuing careers in hospitality and tourism.

GHTA President Elvis Lewis issued a call to action, charging members to actively recruit new members to the association. “We are stronger together,” Lewis emphasised, urging continued unity and collective effort in advancing the interests of Grenada’s tourism industry.

The GHTA remains committed to fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration across all sectors of Grenada’s hospitality and tourism landscape.
