The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, through the Grenada Office of Creative Affairs (GOCA), will present From the Roots to the Horizon: A Journey of Grenadian History Through Flavours during the grand finale on 22 November of Festival de la Gastronomie 2025 in Marigot, St Martin.

The culinary delegation is led by Anthony Johnson, the talented chef and owner of Kreative Chef, and Joachim Joseph, a skilled vegan chef.

“We are honoured to represent our country and showcase Grenada’s culinary offering at this year’s Festival de la Gastronomie,” shares Johnson, who is also President of the newly formed Grenada Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Association (GGCAA) Inc. “Our presentation at the Gastronomy Village will take guests on a journey through Grenada’s culinary evolution. We will showcase Grenada’s history and creativity in a way that highlights our unique culinary heritage and presents the artistry and versatility of Grenadian cuisine. Guests who visit our booth will not just taste Grenadian food; they will experience the story of Grenada on a plate.” As part of the presentation, the chefs will prepare 2 dishes: Tri-Island Oil Down and Sweet Potato Pone with a Twist.

The signature dish, Tri-Island Oil Down, will be presented 3 ways: chicken/pork, seafood and vegan. “Presenting our national dish in 3 ways allows us to honour tradition, with the classic oil down, while showcasing the diversity and versatility of modern Grenadian cuisine with the seafood and vegan options,” explains Joseph, Public Relations Officer of GGCAA Inc. For dessert, the chefs will incorporate passion fruit, the main ingredient of the 2025 festival, and serve a spiced sweet potato pone paired with a passion fruit crème anglaise.

Grenada’s participation in the St Martin Festival de la Gastronomie aligns with GOCA’s vision for developing gastronomy as a priority sector within the creative economy, with significant investment into training and infrastructure development planned for 2026. “This showcase in St Martin is a fantastic indicator of our plans for the gastronomy sector,” shares Sen. the Hon. Adrian Thomas, Minister for Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture. “Our culinary creatives have consistently demonstrated excellence, and we will ensure they have access to resources, such as state-of-the-art training kitchens and masterclasses, to succeed.”

The 5th edition of St Martin Festival de la Gastronomie is a 12-day culinary festival featuring workshops, competitions and culinary experiences. The festival culminates on 22 November with a celebration of Caribbean collaboration in the Gastronomy Village. Chefs from around the Caribbean, including Grenada, Dominica, Barbados, Haiti and Curaçao, will join local chefs to craft an extraordinary experience highlighting Caribbean flavours and creativity.
