- Fiscal year for Grenada is 1 January to 31 December of each year
- 2025 budget was not approved until March 2025
- Debate on 2026 presentation in both Houses of Parliament to wrap up on or by 10 December
Finance Minister Dennis Cornwall has announced that the Estimate of Revenue and Expenditure for 2026, otherwise called the Budget, will be presented on 1 December 2025. The government intends to have the debate in both the Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament wrap up on or by 10 December.
Section 5 of the Public Finance Management Act describes the fiscal year for Grenada as from 1 January to 31 December of each year. However, the 2025 Estimates were presented in March because of significant disruptions due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl in July 2024.
Though the budget for 2025 was not approved until March 2025, in an interview in January 2025, Cornwall disclosed that the Cabinet signed off on an EC$400 million general warrant as guided by the Public Finance Management Act.
In preparation for the 2026 presentation of the estimates, the Ministry of Finance has been holding a series of consultations with citizens in the 7 parishes, as well as with targeted groups. The latest targeted groups are the agriculture community and the youth, and the consultation is scheduled for 30 September and 1 October, respectively.
Cornwall said the intention is for the Finance Committee in Parliament, which comprises all elected members of parliament in the Lower House, to approve the draft estimates in November so that it will be on schedule for the 1 December presentation.
While presenting the throne speech during the ceremonial opening of the 4th Session of the 11th Parliament on 12 September 2025, Governor-General Dame Cecile La Grenade promised that, among other things, the budget address would provide details on the strategic priorities and expected outcomes to maintain peace and order in the island during the Parliamentary year.
