Women entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners recently gathered for the Economic Empowerment Workshop — Overcoming Challenges & Building Sustainable Businesses, a dynamic 2-day event designed to provide hands-on training, expert strategies, and invaluable networking opportunities.
Held on 25–26 March 2025 at the Radisson Hotel, St George, and March 27–28 at the Belmont Estate, St Patrick, the workshop aimed to support women entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses, overcoming financial and marketing challenges, and developing sustainable business models. Participants included small business owners facing financial and operational hurdles, aspiring entrepreneurs seeking guidance, mentorship and networking opportunities. Interactive sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities allowed attendees to connect with experienced mentors and fellow entrepreneurs.
“This workshop was designed to equip women with the tools and strategies needed to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship,” said Jicinta Alexis, Senior Programme Officer, Ministry of Social and Community Development, Housing and Gender Affairs. “Our goal is to empower women to build sustainable businesses that contribute to economic growth and community development.”
Attendees expressed appreciation for the practical approach of the sessions and the opportunity to engage with experts and peers. Many participants left with actionable business strategies and new professional connections that will help propel their ventures forward.
The Economic Empowerment Workshop underscores the importance of fostering an enabling environment for women to thrive in business, providing them with the necessary resources and support to succeed in today’s competitive landscape.
