An opportunity exists for an experienced Finance/Accounts professional to oversee Finance and Accounting functions in a leading financial institution.
Position: Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The job holder will be responsible for:
- Preparing the statements of financial position, comprehensive income and other financial reports
- Analysing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
- Coordinating and overseeing the daily workflow of the unit’s routine functions, including training, and coaching, conducting performance reviews, and enforcing company policies and practices
Responsibilities would include:
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external controls
- Performing general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
- Analysing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses for input into strategic plans and annual budgets
- Preparing periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Maintaining the Investment portfolio of the organisation
- Preparing pension plan, annual financial statement and ensuring the preparation and circulation of individual pension plan statements to employees
- Auditing transactions to approve ledger entries; maintaining the general ledger
- Verifying the integrity of the fixed asset register
- Review and sign off on bank reconciliation statements
- Ensuring vendors’ accounts are reconciled and monitors accounts payables
- Authorising transactions within designated authority
- Ensuring payment of all statutory and recurring financial obligations
- Overseeing the external audit; provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform the annual audit
- Managing month-end and year-end closing
- Preparing monthly reports for submission to the Regulator and other supervisory bodies
- Resolving escalated matters within the expected timeframe
- Ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive data
- Recommending updates to enhance the accounting software
- Review and advise on changes to policies, processes, procedures and controls to improve productivity and service, reduce risk and achieve targets for area of responsibility
Requirements:
Minimum Education & Training:
- Professional Accounting Certification (ACCA, CPA or CGA)
Preferred Experience:
- 5 years experience working as an Accountant, including at least 2 to 3 years experience at a supervisory or managerial level

- Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and by-laws
- Proficient in the core software, accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite and related software
