The Government of Grenada has officially commenced preparations for the 2025 National Budget.
On 24 September, the Government held the 2025 Budget Retreat which provided an opportunity for public sector stakeholders to engage on the strategic directions, the macroeconomic context and the key focus areas for the 2025 budget, as well as to take stock of the 2024 budget implementation, challenges and lessons learned.
Honourable Dennis Cornwall, Minister of Finance highlighted the significance of the 2025 budget. He said, “the upcoming budget will address key national challenges while positioning the country for economic resilience and progress.” To this end, the 2025 budget strategy will focus on supporting the resilient recovery of the economy of Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl and advancing the Government’s transformative agenda in a fiscally sustainable manner.
Accordingly, greater investment is expected in 2025 as part of the Government’s “Build Back Better” campaign as well as to support key priority areas in health, education, energy, housing, and agriculture.
The budget process will be inclusive, with broad-based consultations. Stakeholder input is currently being invited through the budget consultation portal on the Ministry of Finance website at https://www.finance.gd/index.php/portal.
