The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) is excited to announce an upcoming travel mission to Guyana. The mission aims to strengthen bilateral relations and foster new opportunities for trade, commerce, and tourism between the 2 nations.

This pivotal initiative will take place from 27–30 August 2024, led by Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, and will include Minister for Economic Development, Planning, Agriculture and Lands, Forestry Marine Resources and Cooperatives Hon. Lennox Andrews, and Minister of Tourism, The Creative Economy and Culture Hon. Adrian Thomas.

The mission will precede the launch of a direct flight route between Grenada and Guyana, starting on 28 September 2024, with interCaribbean Airways. This new route will operate once a week, with a flight duration of just 1 hour and 45 minutes, with plans to expand its frequency in the near future.

The delegation aims to explore collaborative ventures in various sectors, including the distribution of goods, cement, spices, and timber and engage in discussions and activities designed to bolster economic ties and mutual growth.

“We are thrilled to embark on this mission to Guyana, as it represents a significant step towards enhancing our economic and cultural connections,” said Chairman Randall Dolland. “This endeavour will not only pave the way for increased trade and commerce but also open up new tourism opportunities for both our nations.”

CEO Petra Roach added, “This initiative presents a unique opportunity to cultivate a diverse travel dynamic, drawing business leaders from the oil and gas sectors while also fostering rich cultural exchanges in areas such as dance, music, culinary arts, and education. It exemplifies our commitment to creating meaningful connections and broadening the horizons for both Grenada and Guyana.”

This collaborative effort between the GTA and the Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCIC) reflects a strong public-private partnership aimed at driving mutual prosperity.

Executive Director of the GCIC Petipha Lewis remarked, “This mission underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in driving economic growth and development. By bringing together key stakeholders from both nations, we are paving the way for robust trade relations and creating a platform for businesses to thrive. We look forward to the opportunities this mission will unlock and the enduring partnerships it will establish.”

Individuals and businesses interested in participating in the travel mission are encouraged to contact the GTA using (473) 440 2279 or email [email protected] for more information on how to join this exciting venture.
