The Grenada Football Association (GFA) and the Government of Grenada continue to work together for the development of football in the state.

Over the past few months the executive of the association held several meetings with officials from the Ministry of Sports. The most recent was held this week, where both the association led by President Cheney Joseph, accompanied by Vice President Allan James, Executive Member and Interim General Secretary Ken Whiteman, Technical Director Lester Smith and Marketing and Communication Officer Oslyn Crosby met a team from the ministry which included Sports Minister Emmaline Pierre, Permanent Secretary Veda Bruno-Victor and Senior Sports Coordinator Conrad Francis.

The meeting was used to update the ministry’s team on the many activities, plans and programmes of the association and also to chart the way forward on ways this mutually cordial and important relationship can be maintained for the overall good of the sport on the island.

Describing the current relationship between the association and the government as excellent, Minister Pierre pledged to continue working to enhance sports on the island. “I am willing to help and enhance in any way I can, the sports product on the island and if we work together we can achieve a lot. It is my hope that this excellent working relationship will continue, one I feel very confident will bear fruits in the near future.”

Also commending the association’s work was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports Veda Bruno-Victor, who commended the association for the number of developmental programmes it has been hosting in the past weeks. “When I look at the number of invitations I received from the football association to attend opening and closing ceremonies of workshops for stakeholders with in the associations, it makes me feel proud to see the growth and positive change within the football association,” she said.

It was agreed that going forward, both parties will engage in quarterly meetings, all geared at keeping the communication lines open and maintaining a worthwhile relationship between two stakeholders within the sporting industry in Grenada.
