In a recent handing over ceremony, telecoms provider LIME announced its commitment to donate EC$89,000 towards the refurbishment of the T A Marryshow Community College’s (TAMCC) Resource Laboratory 1.

LIME’s donation comes after a proposal was submitted for consideration by the administration of the TAMCC for an upgraded laboratory.

Currently, TAMCC remains the sole public provider of tertiary education in Grenada and operates from 3 schools: the School of Arts, Science and Professional Studies, the School of Applied Arts and Technology, and the School of Continuing Education.

The refurbishment is part of a project to improve the learning environment for students pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Office Administration. The upgrade is essential to give the School of Arts, Sciences and Professional Studies the ICT capacity to adequately and efficiently deliver training.

As a major contributor to education in Grenada, LIME saw the importance in funding the project and was eager to provide support to this initiative. The upgrade of the laboratory includes the provision of 35 new desktop computers, one laptop, a projector, among other essentials.

Geraldine Pitt, CEO of the LIME Southern Cluster said she was proud that LIME could be part of the project. “We’re happy that we are able to provide funding for this project, especially given its overwhelming importance. We want to commend the TAMCC for their excellent work in the educational landscape of Grenada and we’re positive that our country will reap the benefits from this resource laboratory, as our students become well trained.”

Martin Roos, CEO of LIME Caribbean visited Grenada for the occasion, and pledged LIME’s commitment to education in Grenada and the region. “Our company is profoundly focused on developing education in the Caribbean. We have several scholarship programmes throughout the region and now we’ve provided our commitment to the TAMCC for this project. These are just some demonstrations of our promise to improve education.”

The project is scheduled to commence within the upcoming weeks.
