More training opportunities are being afforded to young men on the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
This includes a first group of 6 male youth who are participating in a dive certification course, organised by the Division of Youth within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government.
Keron Bristol, Project Officer within the Division of Youth, said they are looking at non-traditional skills training to enable young people on the island to become more employable, even becoming self-employed.
It’s the first time the Division of Youth is offering such training. Deefer Diving, located in Hillsborough, is facilitating the training, with Gary Ward and Steve Ellery as trainers.
Meanwhile, as Government prepares to expand the tourism sector on the island, plans are in the making for an underwater sculpture park here.
Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs
Excellent job to the ministry and Deefer Diving, Gary and Steve very good Instructors.
Very good opportunity for the young man and woman of Petite Martinique and Carriacou to learn about the under water world and most of all to help take care of it.
