Geo. F Huggins and Company Ltd. turned in a commanding performance during the second staging of the Classique Lighting Caribbean Communal Invitational over the 25–26 April weekend. Competing in the senior corporate categories, the Huggins team dominated the Women’s 60m and 100m dashes, led by a standout showing from Tisha Checkley.
The women’s 100m proved to be a showcase of depth for Huggins. Checkley led a clean sweep of the podium, crossing the line in 14.10 seconds. The “blue brand” maintained a significant gap over rivals Jonas Browne & Hubbard Ltd., with teammates Lanaya Woodroofe and Jaydee Samuel securing the silver and bronze positions, respectively.

Checkley returned to the track later that evening to secure her second gold medal in the timed 60m final. The event was a tactical battle across 2 sections.
In the first section, Earlisha Prescott of Digicel Grenada established a formidable leading time of 9.28 seconds. However, competing in the second section, Checkley produced an explosive drive phase to accelerate away from the field, stopping the clock at 8.88 seconds to claim the overall victory. Digicel rounded out the remaining podium spots in a tightly contested finish.

The corporate events proved to be a primary draw for the 2026 edition, with 12 teams taking to the track. Martin Bedeau, Managing Director of Classique Lighting Caribbean, Grenada and originator of the Invitational, noted the significance of the corporate turnout. “I am incredibly proud of the performance from Team Huggins,” Bedeau stated. “We look forward to seeing even more corporate partners participating in future editions of the invitational as we continue to grow this event.”
The dominant display by the Huggins contingent underscores the competitive spirit of the corporate category, which organisers confirm will remain a cornerstone of the annual competition.
