From Windward in the North to Mt Pleasant in the East and L’Esterre in the South, a wave of reconstruction is taking hold.
The Government of Grenada, through the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, has officially engaged several local contractors to accelerate the Build Back Better housing initiative.
The project is a direct response to the devastation left by Hurricane Beryl, focusing on providing families with resilient homes while simultaneously boosting the local economy. The surge in construction has opened up significant employment opportunities for young and middle-aged residents, with several active sites currently employing teams of over 10 workers.

The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government has secured bulk purchases of construction materials to streamline the Build Back Better initiative, with a dedicated shipment already dispatched to Petite Martinique.
While the Build Back Better programme handles major construction, the government’s Materials Assistance Programme also remains in full swing. Residents requiring supplies to repair their own properties are encouraged to visit the Ministry to complete an application form. All requests will undergo an assessment by ministry officials before final approval is granted.
