In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA), through its Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), has partnered with Spice Isle Imaging Centre to provide free mammograms to women aged 40 and above.
This initiative reflects the TEF’s commitment to reinvesting in the community and supporting the health and well-being of Grenadians.
Breast cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers affecting women both globally and locally. The good news is that with regular screening and early detection, outcomes can be dramatically improved. Mammograms remain the most effective way to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages — before symptoms appear and when treatment is most successful.
“Early detection saves lives, and access to screening is key,” said GHTA CEO Arlene Friday. “Through the support of the Tourism Enhancement Fund, we are able to remove financial barriers and give women the opportunity to access this lifesaving screening.”
Women interested in taking advantage of this free mammogram program must register in advance; call 444-1353 or email [email protected]. Appointments will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited.
This project is one of several community-driven initiatives made possible by the GHTA Tourism Enhancement Fund, which channels contributions from the hospitality sector into programmes that benefit Grenada socially, culturally, and economically.
