The Traffic Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) notifies the general public, particularly motorists, that the northbound lane of the Maurice Bishop Highway will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Monday, 18 August 2025, between 9 am and 6 pm daily, until further notice.

This closure is necessary to facilitate laying of pipes as part of the Southern St George Water Supply Expansion Project.

During this closure, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:

No entry: No vehicles will be permitted to enter the northbound lane of the Maurice Bishop Highway from its intersection at the True Blue Roundabout.

Alternative route: Vehicles travelling from the southernmost areas of the island will be diverted via the Frequente and Dusty Highway public roads.

Please note:

This project will be executed in phases. During this time, vehicles will be able to access the upper portion of the northbound lane from its intersection with Frequente and Grand Anse Housing Scheme main roads.

This portion of road will be accessible while work is being carried out on the lower portion of Maurice Bishop Highway.

The RGPF thanks members of the public for their cooperation and understanding and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

RGPF couldn’t suggest that it better to get the work done at night, as it it on a normal day the traffic is terrible . Who makes these decisions?

It’s crazy this project was scheduled years ago from the previous administration, years later we still have to be inconvenienced as a nation because of lack of execution of crucial projects. We’ve ultimately had so much time to plan afterall, so why not make this a night project, for less inconvenience both ways ,between the general public and the contractors working on the road

Why are we still engaging in mediocrity in 2025. Why not use those powerfull lihht plants to conduct these work during the night. in addition to this will there be a zero tolerance for vehicles parking on the side of the road indiscriminatley? No I dont think so.

I guess it’s okay to inconvenience the traveling public so long as we don’t inconvenience the contractors and their workers.
What about road closure at night and do the work at night ?
We still working backwards in Grenada.
