Nathan Downer’s opening exhibition ‘Resilience, the Epicentre of Femininity’ is on Friday, 22 August 2025, from 4:30–8 pm at Laluna’s Art Studio.

The second season of Laluna’s Art Exhibitions opens with the works by artist Nathan Downer.

Nathan Downer was born in 1994 in Annatto Bay, St Mary, Jamaica. He is a visual artist based in St George’s, Grenada. Downer has participated in both private and public commissions, his most notable being a public art mural commissioned by the Government of Grenada at Quarantine Point Recreational Park. He works mainly in the acrylic medium on canvas but also experiments with other mediums to create interesting marks and textures, adding to the visual appeal of his artwork. He describes himself as a figurative painter who values emotional honesty in his creative expressions and the power of colour to convey the depth of human experiences.

His work has been featured in Art 4 Any magazine and Art Bar Grenada. His most recent exhibition, titled “Resilience, the Epicentre of Femininity,” showcases 20 artworks celebrating women’s enduring strength and quiet courage. This series honours their vital role in the foundation of society and family, highlighting the powerful, often unseen resilience that shapes and sustains our homes and communities and is essential to the development of future generations.

The show will be hosted at Laluna’s Art Studio, which is adjacent to ‘The Monkey Bar’. For directions, please use Google Maps for ‘The Monkey Bar Grenada, Portici Beach’ for parking access in Pt Salines.

The location is known as the Laluna Art Project and comprises the elements of Art and hospitality — an experimentation of art, food, and beverage. The Art Space is the gallery display area, featuring works from local artists. It is open for viewing every day from 9 am to 6 pm. 100% of the sales go directly to the artist as part of Laluna’s commitment to helping local artists.

The Monkey Bar is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from lunch to sunset. It features a Sunday local dish and is also available for private events. The main entrance is from the Portici Beach public beach access in Point Salines on the way to Dr Grooms Beach. The Sculpture Garden is 2 acres of beachfront land called the “Enchanted Forest.” It comprises Land Art that continues to evolve with new art installations, creating a platform of inventive creations, such as upcycling plastics into art sculptures.
