Her Excellency Ingrid Jackson, Grenada’s newly appointed Permanent Representative to the United Nations, formally presented her credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York on Friday, 11 July 2025.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Jackson conveyed warm greetings from the Government and people of Grenada and reaffirmed the country’s enduring commitment to the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter. She gave the assurance that she will seek to leverage the good offices of the Secretary-General and other UN agencies, particularly on issues critical to small island developing states (SIDS), including climate change, sustainable development, ocean governance, and financing for development.

Secretary-General Guterres welcomed Ambassador Jackson to the United Nations and commended Grenada’s longstanding and constructive engagement in the organisation. He described Grenada’s partnership with the UN as one of mutual respect and shared values, especially in advocating for the needs and priorities of vulnerable nations. The Secretary-General also conveyed warm regards to Prime Minister the Honourable Dickon Mitchell and his Cabinet.

The work of Grenada’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations is central to the country’s foreign policy and international development efforts. Through active engagement at the UN, the Mission helps to shape global policies that directly impact Grenada’s economic, social, and environmental well-being. It also plays a vital role in mobilising technical assistance, accessing climate finance, strengthening international partnerships, and promoting Grenada’s interests across global platforms. Ambassador Jackson’s leadership at the mission will be instrumental in further advancing Grenada’s strategic priorities and amplifying the nation’s voice in key global discussions.

Ambassador Jackson assumes the role at a pivotal time, as Grenada continues to strengthen its voice in international fora, with a strong focus on climate diplomacy, digital transformation, peace and security, and sustainable economic development. She brings to the position a wealth of experience in international relations, public policy, and development cooperation.

Her appointment underscores Grenada’s dedication to multilateralism and to ensuring that the concerns of Caribbean nations remain firmly on the global agenda.
