3 Grenadians — Trellona Charles, Johnathan Andrew and Aquila Pierre — have been awarded Chevening Scholarships for 2025 to pursue Master’s degrees at universities in England, according to the official Facebook page for the British High Commission in Barbados and Eastern Caribbean.

Trellona Charles is a communications professional and youth leader from Grenada. She is passionate about public relations, education, and youth development. She holds a BA (Hons) in Journalism with a minor in Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management from the University of the West Indies. As the Corporate Communications Officer at T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC), she manages internal and external communications, using her media background and creativity to promote tertiary education and training opportunities.

She has held several leadership roles, including President of the Grenada Students’ Association in Jamaica during her studies. She now chairs the Education and Public Relations Committee of the St Patrick’s Youth Organisation. There, she manages the organisation’s public image and coordinates youth-focused initiatives, including the Primary School Debate Competition. Charles will pursue an MA in Public Relations and Strategic Communications at City, University of London.

Johnathan Andrew is an engineer who is committed to strengthening climate resilience in Grenada and other small island states. For the past 4 years, he has worked in both the public and private sectors in Grenada. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies and served on the executive committee of the Grenada Institute of Professional Engineers (GIPE). He advocates for sustainable engineering solutions at the national level. Through his Chevening scholarship, Andrew looks forward to cross-cultural exchange, learning from diverse perspectives, and gaining the skills needed to support sustainable infrastructure development in the Caribbean. He will pursue an MSc in General Structural Engineering at Imperial College London.

Aquila Pierre is a financial services professional focused on wealth management. She is passionate about financial literacy and helping people explore investment options beyond traditional savings. Her goal is to empower individuals to make informed decisions and build long-term wealth. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill. She has worked in the banking sector, supporting clients in financial planning and investment advisory. Pierre is interested in linking financial markets, economic policies, and household financial behaviour. She aims to help build more inclusive and accessible financial systems across the Caribbean. She will pursue an MSc in Money, Banking and Finance at Lancaster University.
