In recognition of Nutrition Week 2025, the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council (GFNC) turned the spotlight on a group of unsung heroes critical to the tri-island state’s food security: farmers and their dedicated extension officers.

These spotlight features celebrated the vital role these individuals play in strengthening Grenada’s food systems. From promoting intercropping and composting to encouraging backyard gardening and rainwater harvesting, each participant offered practical solutions and deep insights into sustainable agriculture. They also highlighted the urgent need to engage youths in farming and shared valuable tips on soil care.

The videos can be viewed on the GFNC’s YouTube page @TheRealGFNC. Together, these champions remind us that sustainable farming is more than a profession — it’s a public service. GFNC is proud to honour their contributions as part of its ongoing commitment to national nutrition and food security.

Additional farmers and extension officers will be featured in July as GFNC continues to highlight the people and practices helping to feed the nation, very fitting as the Council celebrates its 45th anniversary.

GFNC: Eat local — strengthen food and nutrition security in Grenada.
