LOCATION: Spiceland Mall International, Morne Rouge, St George, Grenada
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Purchasing Officer to join our team at Real Value IGA Supermarket. The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of produce and other grocery items, ensuring that the supermarket maintains a strong and consistent supply chain. The Purchasing Officer will be required to negotiate with suppliers, manage relationships, and ensure the quality and timely delivery of products. Occasional visits to local farms will be necessary to assess product quality and build supplier relationships.
Key responsibilities:
- Procure a variety of produce items and other grocery products in a timely manner
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with suppliers, local farmers, and vendors
- Track and manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages
- Visit local farms to assess produce quality and maintain strong supplier relations
- Coordinate and communicate with internal departments to ensure product availability for sales
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of produce items, including seasonal variations and quality standards
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and local farms
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
