The Grenada Karate Federation (GKF) is proud to announce the impressive performances of its athletes in their recent tournament in the Central Caribbean Cup Karate Tournament held in Panama from 24–30 March 2025.

Lorenzo Asnaghi, Ethan Courtney, and Fabien Charles delivered outstanding performances, with notable personal bests and a medal achievement.

Asnaghi made a strong debut in his first-ever tournament match, competing in the Male Cadet (14–15 years old) Kata category. He shows great promise and potential for the future.

In the Male Senior (16+) Kata category, Courtney and Charles both delivered commendable performances. Courtney performed Jion, while Charles performed Kanku Dai. Both their scores represented personal bests for both athletes, underscoring their dedication to and growth in the sport.

Courtney’s performance in the Male U-21 Kata event also deserves special mention. Though he lost to his initial opponent, he bounced back in the repêchage rounds, performing Bassai Dai to clinch the bronze medal. This marks his second consecutive regional bronze medal. His calm composure on the mat is admirable, especially in a field of more seasoned competitors.

The GKF would like to extend heartfelt thanks to coaches Francesca Alongi and Tisagh Chase for their unwavering support and dedication to the athletes. Their guidance has been crucial in helping these athletes achieve their personal bests.

Additionally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the following sponsors for their invaluable support: The Grenada Shotokan Karate Association, The Grenada Trade Centre, Grenada Athletics Association, BG Cyber Connections, Beach Bistro, Carib Sushi, and Grenada Co-operative Bank. Without their contributions, these achievements would not have been possible.

Heartfelt gratitude is also extended to FEPAKA, the Olympic Committee of Panama, PanDeportes, Centro Caribe Sport, and all those who contributed to the success of the Central Caribbean Cup.

The GKF is committed to developing the talents of all of its athletes and is extremely excited about the future.
