The Grenada Football Association (GFA) regrets to announce that due to exorbitant airline ticket prices, our National Boys’ (U15) team was forced to withdraw from the prestigious CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals, scheduled to take place from 21–26 April 2025, in Accra, Ghana.

The invitation from Dr Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation Africaine de Football, offered our young athletes a unique chance to compete on an international stage. It would have been the first time a team from outside Africa participated, marking a historic milestone. The championship showcases the continent’s top U15 talent, enhances school football standards, and promotes holistic development. Since its launch, it has engaged over 1,965,000 participants from 46 countries, making it Africa’s largest youth sports initiative.

“We are deeply disappointed that our young athletes will miss this prestigious international event due to prohibitive travel costs. Yet, this challenge strengthens our determination to secure funding for future opportunities. We invite all interested partners within the local and regional football community to join us in making this possible,” shared Marlon Glean, President, GFA.

Despite this setback, the GFA is committed to overcoming these financial hurdles and participating in the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship. We are actively exploring fundraising options and seeking support from businesses, the Grenadian diaspora, and sports enthusiasts who share our vision of nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities for international exposure.

We remain resolute in ensuring that financial constraints do not continue to limit our athletes’ opportunities. The GFA’s commitment to youth development remains strong, and we will continue to seek ways to provide our teams with the experiences they deserve.

For more information, please contact Carl Lee, General Secretary at [email protected] or 1-473-440-9903.
