This is a formal notice reminding all individuals and entities involved in food handling, vending, and operations of food outlets of their critical obligation to adhere to established food safety and public health regulations.

The following practices are mandatory and must be strictly observed at all times:

  1. Certification: Without reservation, ALL individuals are reminded that they must hold a valid food handler’s certificate and a valid food handler ID badge when engaging in the preparation, handling, and/or sale of food
  2. Personal Hygiene: All food handlers must practice proper hygiene, including wearing clean protective gear, frequent handwashing, and maintaining good health to prevent contamination
  3. Food Storage and Preparation: Ensure that food is stored and prepared in accordance with recommended temperature guidelines and in sanitary conditions
  4. Cleanliness of Facilities: Maintain the highest level of cleanliness in all food preparation and serving areas, including utensils and equipment
  5. Safe Handling of Food: Prevent cross-contamination by separating raw and cooked foods and using appropriate utensils for each
  6. Compliance with Inspections: Cooperate fully with routine health and safety inspections conducted by authorised public health officials

Individuals are also reminded that medical certificates and refreshment house licences that are not up to date will be considered invalid, and operators may be asked to cease operations. The Ministry of Health, therefore, reminds all owners and operators of food businesses that it is an offence to operate such businesses without obtaining the appropriate license and registration.

Please note that failure to comply with these essential standards constitutes a breach of public health laws and may result in consequences, including penalties, fines, and potential closure of business operations.

We therefore urge you to prioritise the health and safety of your customers and the public by ensuring full compliance with all food safety guidelines. Thank you for your immediate attention and cooperation in this matter.

For more information and guidance, please contact the Ministry of Health, Environmental Health Department and Inland Revenue Department.
