The Leo Club of St George’s is proud to celebrate its 55th anniversary under the theme “55 Years of Excellence, Leading with Purpose.”
This milestone marks more than half a century of service, leadership, and dedication to the Grenadian community. As one of the oldest functioning Leo Clubs in the Eastern Caribbean, the club has significantly contributed to the social development of Grenada through numerous impactful projects.
Commenting on the club’s 55th anniversary, club president Leo Renisha Smith (2024-2025) said, “It is a profound honour to celebrate 55 years of selfless service and unwavering dedication to community development as President of the Leo Club of St George’s. This incredible milestone invites us, both as a club and as a community, to reflect on the lasting impact we are making in society. May kindness, peace, and a sincere commitment to the well-being of others continue to inspire and drive us forward each day. Wishing the St George’s Leo Club a joyous and meaningful 55th Anniversary!”

To commemorate this significant milestone, the Leo Club of St George’s has planned an exciting week of activities:
- Church Service: The Club would have attended church service at the Gateway Assembly Church at Point Salines, St George
- Service Project: Project Pawsitive Impact. Leos will be volunteering with the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) to provide care and support to the animals they shelter
- Wear Your Regalia to Work Day: On Tuesday, 25 our anniversary day, our members will be wearing their regalia to work to bring awareness of the Leo Club
- Fundraising Initiative: During the anniversary week, the club will be selling commemorative pins to support future community service projects and initiatives
Over the years, the Leo Club of St George’s has been instrumental in several projects, ranging from community outreach and youth empowerment to environmental projects. Some of the club’s notable past and present projects include the Back-to-School Supplies Drive, Annual World Clean-up Day coastal clean-up initiatives, Christmas food hamper drive for the vulnerable, youth leadership workshops, youth in drug prevention initiatives and beautification of Sendall Tunnel.

In its 55 years of existence, the club has also produced many prominent business and community leaders in Grenada, with numerous past members now playing influential roles in the island’s social and business sectors.
The Leo Club of St George’s was chartered by the Lions Club of St George’s on 25 February 1970. The motto of the Leo Club programme is “Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.”
As the club celebrates 55 years of service, it remains focused on developing young leaders and addressing the evolving needs of Grenada’s community.
