- National motto should be “our guiding compass as we forge ahead”
Emmalin Pierre in her capacity as Political Leader of the main opposition New National Party (NNP) wants Government to intensify its response to the people affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl on 1 July 2024.
“The New National Party (NNP) underscores the urgent necessity for the authority to intensify their response. I also take this opportunity to empathise and appeal for the necessary support to be provided to farmers, fishers, other individuals and businesses on the mainland also affected by Hurricane Beryl and more recently the heavy rains, flooding and devastating fires,” Pierre said in a New Year’s message which was released on 1 January via social media platforms.
“As we look ahead, let us remember that success requires working together beyond our differences and recognising our shared stake in Grenada’s future. It requires mutual respect,” she said while promising that her party will continue to be the catalyst for progress and the change Grenadians wish to see, by fostering open consultation and delivering real solutions.
“The NNP remains committed to upholding the constitutional rights of every citizen. We will play our part in protecting these rights, denouncing all forms of victimization, promoting freedom of speech, freedom of association, and all other fundamental rights of our citizens,” she said while reminding citizens of the words of the national motto: “Ever Conscious of God, We Aspire, Build and Advance as One People.”
Pierre, who represents the people of St Andrew South-East, said this timeless creed must be more than words. “Let it be our guiding compass as we forge ahead,” she said while pointing out that citizens can transform challenges into opportunities while building a resilient Grenada for generations to come.”
She said, “The future beckons us to rise as one nation, one people, driven by shared dreams and collective action. We are ready to join with you to write the next chapter of our nation’s story through bold vision, steadfast determination, and the unbreakable spirit that defines us as Grenadians.”
