The Grenada Football Association (GFA) continued celebrating its 100-year milestone with a prestigious Centennial Awards Ceremony on Friday, 29 November. The ceremony was marked by a significant exchange of commemorative gifts between the GFA and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The event, held at Pier 57, showcased the strong partnership between the 2 organisations and highlighted their shared commitment to the growth of football in Grenada.
Representing FIFA, Elkhan Mammadov, FIFA’s Chief Member Association Officer delivered remarks on behalf of FIFA, following a video address by President Gianni Infantino. Both addresses praised GFA’s century-long dedication to football development and reiterated FIFA’s ongoing support for Grenada’s football initiatives. President Infantino commended GFA President Marlon Glean and his team for their visionary leadership and the association’s achievements over the past year. This sentiment was seconded by Mammadov in his subsequent address at the event.
Following his remarks, Mammadov presented President Glean with special gifts from FIFA in honour of GFA’s centennial celebrations, symbolising the enduring bond between the two organisations. In return, President Glean gifted Mammadov with a personalised GFA national team jersey, showcasing the deep respect and mutual commitment that has defined their relationship.

“I first met Elkhan when he was FIFA’s Director of Member Association in Europe. Today, he is the Chief Member Association Officer responsible for all territories under FIFA. Additionally, this is his first visit to the Caribbean in this role as he is here in Grenada to celebrate with us tonight. To show our appreciation, we present you with your very own national team jersey,” said President Glean during the presentation. This exchange is a testament to the shared values and goals that FIFA and the GFA hold for football’s role in uniting communities and inspiring the next generation.
Adding to the evening’s significance, Concacaf’s Director of Development Jason Roberts, delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on his Grenadian heritage and the opportunities football provides to transform lives across the region. Roberts emphasised Concacaf’s unwavering support for Grenada’s football journey and the importance of fostering local talent to achieve global success.

The evening was centred on awards recognising the outstanding contributions of Grenadian footballers and teams, a retrospective video highlighting GFA’s notable projects initiated and continued during the centennial year, and cultural performances celebrating the island’s vibrant spirit.
The exchange of gifts and the presence of global football leaders underscored the importance of GFA’s centennial as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the sport’s future in Grenada. With FIFA and Concacaf’s continued partnership, GFA is well-positioned to drive the next phase of football development, empowering players, coaches, and communities across the island.
