The Ministry of Education joins with the Child Month Committee and related stakeholders to celebrate Child Month 2024.
October is designated Child Month in Grenada. It is one of the vehicles used to bring awareness to issues surrounding our children. Child Month celebration allows for advocacy, which impacts children’s chances of growing up successfully. The month is being celebrated under the theme: “I am your Child — I am your priority!”
This theme reflects the profound responsibility we have in shaping the lives of the next generation. Our focus is on deepening awareness and strengthening our commitment to ensure that every child is valued, and his/her overall well-being is prioritised.
In addition, the theme highlights the significant role that parents play in the lives of their children, especially in the early years. Children are our future nation builders, but from birth, parents have the responsibility to lay a proper foundation for future positive outcomes. Through the theme, “I am your child — I am your priority!” we hope to remind parents that their children are their number one priority. We hope also to provide activities that will assist in empowering parents to parent effectively.
The following are some of the 2024 Child Month activities:
- Opening address by the Governor-General
- Child Sabbath/Child Sunday: 12–13 October
- Positive parent advocacy messages
- Zoom parenting sessions
- Schools to display child month messages through creative means
- Street marches: Week of 14–18 October
- Closing remarks by Minister for Education Sen. the Hon. David Andrew on 31 October
Please note that this year (2024), we will be returning to the established colour of burnt orange T-shirts. T-shirts will be available at the following outlets:
