27 families in Carriacou will benefit from new houses, thanks to volunteers of a non-profit organisation from Trinidad and Tobago.
Hands that Serve will be constructing prefabricated houses. The fully furnished 3-bedroom homes will include bathroom facilities and supplies, as well as beds and stoves.
Members of the organisation paid a preliminary visit to Carriacou, where they looked at various sites as possible locations for the houses. Almost 95% of the housing stock on Carriacou and Petite Martinique was destroyed during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews, Minister for Mobilisation, Implementation and Transformation Hon. Andy Williams and Minister responsible for Housing Senator the Hon. Gloria Thomas, were part of the site tour by Hands that Serve.
Minister Thomas expressed appreciation for the assistance as Government continues to work with local, regional and international organisations to rebuild the twin-isle constituency of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
