As we prepare for the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Grenlec reminds customers of the importance of preparation in mitigating the effects of potential disasters.
1 June marks the beginning of the 2024 season, which will run until 30 November. During this time, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) estimates a total of 23 named storms will develop.
Preparation should include:
- Creation of disaster plans to protect your families, homes and businesses
- Portable emergency kit containing batteries, battery/solar-powered radios, lights, charging cables and power packs
- Fully charge your mobile phones and other devices
- Trimming of overhanging trees — if power lines are too close, call Grenlec at 237 to request assistance
Grenlec has a plan to minimise damage and quickly recover following a disaster. We maintain strong relationships with emergency management authorities and other agencies in Grenada and across the Caribbean. This facilitates effective collaboration and communication in responding to disaster threats and promoting restoration.
During the season, we urge you to keep listening to official media and follow all advisories given by our emergency management authorities bodies and Grenlec.
